After you connect Cin7 Core, StoreClaw can use the Cin7 Core API to access business data from your authorized account, including inventory, sales orders, purchase orders, products, and multiple warehouses. StoreClaw can then use this data for queries, analysis, and automated tasks.
Note: This Cin7 Core connection method does not use a separate OAuth Token or Refresh Token. You need to create a set of API credentials in Cin7 Core: an Account ID and an API Application Key. These credentials correspond to the two required fields in the StoreClaw authorization dialog.
Before You Start
Before you begin, make sure that:
- You have a Cin7 Core account that you can sign in to. Trial accounts can also access the API.
- Your current user has the Settings: Cin7 Core API Setup permission. This permission provides access to
Integrations → Cin7 Core API. If you cannot see this option, ask a Cin7 Core administrator or the primary account user to grant you access. - Your Cin7 Core subscription has an available API or external integration license. If Cin7 Core displays a license or integration limit message while you create the integration, check your current plan and available slots on the subscription page.
Step 1: Create API Credentials in Cin7 Core
- Sign in to Cin7 Core.
- From the left menu, go to Integrations -> Cin7 Core API. In some interfaces or older help articles, this option may be labeled simply as API.
- Alternatively, after signing in, open the Cin7 Core API settings page directly.
- On the API Integration page, click
+in the upper-right corner. - Enter a recognizable API name, such as
StoreClaw, and click Create. - After the API application is created, open its Setup tab. Cin7 Core displays:
- Account ID
- API Application Key (shown as Key or API Key on some pages)
- Copy both values, then click Save to save the API application.
We recommend creating a dedicated API application named
StoreClawinstead of reusing credentials from another system. Cin7 Core supports multiple API applications in the same account, and API limits are calculated separately for each application.
Step 2: Complete the Connection in StoreClaw
Open the Cin7 Core plugin in StoreClaw and click Connect.
Enter the following values in the authorization dialog:
StoreClaw field Cin7 Core credential to enter Account ID The Account ID from the Setup tab Application Key The Application Key from the Setup tab Make sure the copied values do not contain leading or trailing spaces or line breaks.
Click Continue with Cin7 Core.
Wait for the connection check to finish. The authorization is complete when the status changes to Connected.
Step 3: Verify the Connection
After the connection succeeds, run a simple query such as viewing a product, inventory, or order list to confirm that StoreClaw can read data from the correct company.
If your Cin7 Core login can access multiple companies, note that each company has a different Account ID. To connect multiple companies, create an API application in each company and add each connection separately in StoreClaw. Give each connection a clear name so that you do not select the wrong account in future conversations or automated tasks.
Credential Security
Cin7 treats the Account ID and Application Key as credentials that are as sensitive as a username and password. Make sure that you:
- Enter the credentials only in the Cin7 Core authorization dialog in StoreClaw.
- Do not send complete credentials through chats, emails, support tickets, or screenshots.
- Do not add the credentials to public documents, code repositories, or shared spreadsheets.
- If you suspect that the credentials have been exposed, immediately disable or remove the dedicated API application from the API Integration page in Cin7 Core. Then create new credentials and reconnect.
FAQ
Q: What should I do if I cannot see the Cin7 Core API menu?
A: Ask an administrator to confirm that you have the Settings: Cin7 Core API Setup permission. In Cin7's permission settings, this permission controls access to Integrations → Cin7 Core API. If the permission is correct but you still cannot create an API application, check your subscription's API or external integration license and available slots.
Q: Where can I find the Account ID and Application Key?
A: Go to Integrations -> Cin7 Core API, open the API application you created, and view the values on the Setup tab. After signing in to Cin7 Core, you can also open the API settings page directly.
Q: Why are my credentials invalid, or why did the connection fail?
A: Check the following items in order:
- Make sure the Account ID and Application Key have not been entered in the wrong fields.
- Make sure you copied the complete values without leading or trailing spaces or line breaks.
- Make sure you clicked Save for the API application.
- Make sure both credentials come from the same Cin7 Core company and a valid API application for the company you want to connect.
- Make sure your current subscription still has a valid API or external integration license.
If the connection still fails, create a new API application dedicated to StoreClaw and try connecting with the new credentials.
Q: Can I connect multiple Cin7 Core companies?
A: Yes. Each company has its own Account ID. Create an API application under each company and add each connection separately in StoreClaw.
Q: How do I disconnect access?
A: First, remove the Cin7 Core connection from StoreClaw. To invalidate the original credentials immediately, also disable or remove the dedicated StoreClaw API application from the API Integration page in Cin7 Core. To reconnect later, create new credentials.
